Comments & Suggestions

We are happy to accept and consider comments and suggestions from our patients. Please present your views in writing, face to face or by telephoning the business manager.

Disabled Access

Wheelchair access to the building is via the ramp at the back entrance. The ramp also allows access to the treatment room from outside in an emergency. Patient services are provided at ground floor level. If access proves difficult to any of our disabled patients we would be happy to consider any suggestions for improvements.

Complaints Procedure

We hope that most problems can be sorted out easily and quickly, often at the time they arise and with the person concerned. If your problem cannot be sorted out in this way and you wish to make a complaint, we would like you to let us know as soon as possible, ideally, within a matter of days or, at most, a few weeks. This will enable us to establish what happened more easily. If it is not possible to do that, please let us have full details of your complaint.

Please note that we have to respect our duty of confidentiality to patients and the patient’s written consent will be necessary where a complaint is not made by the patient directly.

If you wish to use the practice’s internal complaints procedure, please address your complaint to our business manager, Mrs Karen Jeffries. Alternatively, you may ask for an appointment with Mrs Karen Jeffries in order to discuss your concerns. She will explain the complaints procedure to you and will make sure that your concerns
are dealt with promptly. It will be a great help if you are as specific as possible about your complaint.

If you wish to raise your complaint directly with the commissioner of our services, please address your complaints to:

Comments and Complaints Unit
NHS Hampshire Headquarters
Omega House
112 Southampton Road
Eastleigh
SO50 5PB

For more information about our Complaints Procedure please download our Complaints Practice Leaflet.

Freedom of Information - Publication Scheme

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 obliges the practice to produce a Publication Scheme. A Publication Scheme is a guide to the 'classes' of information the practice intends to routinely make available.

This scheme is available from reception. Alternatively you can download the Freedom of Information - Publication Scheme.

Zero Tolerance

The practice supports the Government’s NHS zero tolerance campaign. Violence and abuse is a growing concern. GPs and their staff have the right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. Violent patients will be reported to the police and struck off the GP’s list. We ask that you treat your GP and practice staff
properly, without violence or abuse.

Confidentiality

We ask you for personal information so that you can receive appropriate care and treatment. This information is recorded on computer and we are registered under the Data Protection Act. The practice will ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times by all members of the practice team. However, for the effective functioning of a multi-disciplinary team it is sometimes necessary that medical information about you is shared by members of the team.

Primary Care Trust

Cowplain Family Practice is commissioned to provide general medical services by NHS Hampshire Primary Care Trust. Their address is Omega House, 112 Southampton Road, eastleigh, Hampshire SO50 5PB.
